Floating Offshore Multi Wind Turbine

About us

JV between Korean Coens Co. Ltd and Swedish Hexicon AB.
COENS is a young and dynamic company that provides clients in the Oil and Gas Industry with total support services, with cooperation experience towards major shipyard and Oil and Gas companies.
HEXICON develops multi turbine floating wind platforms.
Purpose of JV is to develop, construct, install and commission floating wind projects in South Korea using Hexicon’s patented technology.
CoensHexicon has already been awarded a governmental R&D grant from KETEP, Korea Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, to start Preliminary feasibility studies.

  • South Korea target is to increase the percentage of renewable energy from the current 7 percent to 20 percent by ‘2030.
  • Ambitions are to build 16 GW of offshore wind, of which 2 GW on floating platforms. Increased incentive plan by Korean government where REC-factor multiplier (Renewable Energy Certificates) is increased to 3.5 for deep waters.
  • MoU in place with Busan Techno Park for joint research.
  • CoensHexicon will further develop the market for floating wind energy parks.
  • Serial production in Korean shipyards will increase competiveness compared to other energy production.

  • Semi-submersible, weathervaning platform moored to the seabed.
  • Improved economics through two turbines on same unit Less array cables and higher power density compared to single turbine solution.
  • Multi-turbine unit conveys cost sharing of foundation, moorings, installation, O&M, etc.
  • Standardized design agnostic to water depth and seabed.
